Since posting this Stromba has recieved an email from another ebayer and Renault owner stating that this 'chap' has sold cars under false pretenses before. There is currently an ongoing 'battle' between 3 parties concerning V5 log book irregularities.
The car has a ground off chassis number, a V5 that doesnt contain the letter C57M and an oval plate that doesnt match the log book. Added to he fact that ther service book doesnt tie in with his ownership claims, the cheapness of the car and the fact that this person has dont this sort of thing before, indicates that this car is not what it is said to be. The car has also had a number plate change in the past from one 'M' reg to another 'M' reg. I see no reason to do this either unless something was trying to be hidden.
Whether you want to argue its stolen or not, the facts strongly point to
something illegal at some point in its past. I say thanks to Stromba for
making people aware of this car. The Police have been informed.
