    Suspension Problems!

    Today i got my 16"s which were going on along with 35mm springs BUT;

    when trying to get one of the struts off, the allen key hole (for holding it steady when undoing the top-mount) has rounded! Is there an easy way to get this off now or is going to be a garage effort? if so, how will they remove it??

    Also, while i had the wheels off i noticed that the car (1.2 mk1 ph3) has no anti-roll bar - is this meant to be like that is is it 'missing'?

    Any help appreciated as i'm now left with a 4x4!

    Would that take long to do/cost much?

    No not long......just a quick blast either side should get them loose.

    Price wise, no more than a tenner, should do it for free, it will take about 5 min at the most.

    Someone else may have another trick?????

    Nah, i had to airgun some of mine off.
    As for price, have you not got a mate with a compressor?
    I'd do it for you if you were local.

    Hehe, I had a similar problem two weeks ago when trying to change my springs... Managed to change the driver side spring but couldn't get the passenger side strut undun at the top, right bastard those when they cease... didn't round the hole any anything, but twisted 2 allan keys in the process trying ! never seen that done before.

    Anyways I just used WD40 on it for 2 weeks tried again today and bingo it came straight off... So tomorrow im changing that spring

    by the way, how come an airgun doesn't need to lock the allan key hole down? doesn't the piston spin?

    An old SAS trick is to take the car down to Hill Power and get Nick to do the suspension for you.
