Engineers reports query and Williams insurance issues.

I'm ringing up for insurance at the moment and the compnay who seem most keen to insure me realy want an engineers report and I don't think they'll accpt me or friends at work (who are engineers offically) siginign one so anyone any idea who would write one for me and how much I'd be looking at?

Anyone any experiance with kit cars sinc eht ecar got enough modifications surly I could insurer it as a kit car cheaply but how do I make it officially a kit car?

Also they queried if the Williams had 5 doors, was petrol, manual gearbox, engine size and what colour it was so I'm not puting much hope on they knwoing what it was least the woman knew what cams were.

Get it on a classic policy. They'll know what's going on. (assuming it's over 10yrs old)

They also questioned engine size, fuel and colour (why colour car have an effect on insurance is beyond me).
Insuring it in my mums name without me driving its just £270 fully comp. I hate being young and males when it comes to insurance.
Will give the classic car companies a ring tomorrow.

Only problem is, (and I know it's not nice to think about it ) if there's a fatality or something then your car will definately be investigated. And the last thing you want is to have no insurance when you have a death or very serious injury on your hands.

    Depressing but true!

I might think about insuring it daily ever now and again and saying its standard but the cars far from it. Cams are the least of my worries firstly there the roll cage. Then there no interier and only bucket seats and harnesses. Also it lowered. Thats before you even get to the engine.

no seats or interior etc will work for u mate...part of the exclusivity of the williams is the trim..the only real reason they gunna get nicked is to get moved out of the way as in northys case, or stolen to strip n sell. hardly any williams bits makes it less desirable to thieves. imo of course.

for an engineers report they usually want a mechanical engineer i.e someone that works on cars all the time.

as for a kit car..well uv no chance there tbh. its still got the std suspension layout, std subby layout etc, hasnt been re-shelled , has no other marque of car bits fitted to make it etc. they work on a points system, or did, but be wary...too many points = car being regd as a q plate.ins will love that lmao
