High C02 emissions --- Maybe CAT??

    Hi,

I just got back from my MOT test and the car failed on the CO2 emissions...

They were well over the allowed 0.30, and I was wondering if that means that the CAT as packed up???

does anyone know what the CAT actually does??

I dont want to pay out 200 quid if its not the CAT...

    Cheers Tony.

if you have a decat on then the emissions will be too high and fail.

i know as ive tried....can you remove your cat and have a look iside to see if everything is well ?

what was the engine temp when they tested it ?

    Is this the Williams mate?

If so, not sure what it could be, as it's had quite a few of the obvious things replaced already. When it had the MoT done back in May(ish), the emmissions test was conveniantly ignored though! Perhaps linked to the occasional cold-start stuttering?

Mine failed on the CO2 emissions and it was the lambda sensor. They should be able to test the lambda sensor aswell should be about 0.99-1.03 I think.

    See ya

Yeah the lambda reading was 0.95 and it should have 0.97 to 1.03.....

It passed the CO2 at natural idle but not at fast idle like 2500rpm...
