Support the engine on a jacked up bit of wood and remove engine mounting.

If you just want to see if it has gone then why not just remove your offside wheel, and take off the lower plastic cover (it cover the crankshaft and aux belt pulley)

Save the hassle of undoing the engine mounting and supporting on trolley jack.

Or just take the rocker cover off and look in from the side.

Yeah, if you remove the F16ie cover, then the leads and the plastic bit they sit in you will have 16 screws holding the rocker cover on, take that off and you can see the cambelt.
If the cambelt has just lost some teeth and not snapped you won't be able to tell tho as the gap would be around the crank pulley at the bottom.
