    LPG cnoversion

if fuel prices continue to stay or worse... rise, a lot of performance car owners will be forced to sell of go to LPG... anyone know anything about this? I only know a little about them when a lad I worked with had a Volvo T5 on it... it started on petrol, then auto switched to LPG and had a switch to change between the two. It also ran a lot faster on petrol, but that's unimportant.

Someone on the evo forum has just had their Vento VR6 converted. He likes it so far.

I think you can get a grant/rebate from the gov't for doing it as well.

costs about 1.5k to get fitted i think???

my dad looked into getting it done on his laguna v6, was gonna cost about that much and you'd lose about 5-10% of ure power cuz of the lower octane i think.

And from what we have seen, dont be surprised when your engine destroys itself very early on in its life.

Of course, of all the failures we have seen not one has been down to the LPG conversion. So how do you explain the pistons/bores and cylinder head that look like they have been pounded with a 12 bore shotgun?

We have replaced a 735i BMW engine, 3.0 Omega engine and a big Rover lump. All the engines could not be repaired as the damage was too great to the heads, bores and pistons and the one thing they all had in common?

    LPG conversion.

Honestly not sure, but they all had the same type of damage , that you never see on just a worn out engine. Probably something to do with constant mild detonation.

I'm sure it the kits fitted correctly you wont have a problem, but all these cars went to different specialists for the kits between 2-3 years ago and all were damaged in the same way. The timing and injection must be so crucial and if its just a tiny bit out, the engines appear to just get battered to pieces.

As I said, honestly cant say if all the engines had incorrect installations as I dont know that much about LPG conversions. The 1 thing they did all have in common was the fact they had all been converted.

right, so nothing specific, more human error on the fitting side?

if that's the case fook that, i'll stick with me £1+ bullshit petrol rates... will have to start walking to places now.... *shudders*...
