    Clutch cable catastrophe!!!

    Hey folks,

im at the end of my tether with clutch cables. I'm on my 3rd cable in only 6 months. I had this problem about 4 years ago and it turned out to be the clutch, so that was changed. The clutch feels fine now so can't think why they are snapping all the time. Twice it has snapped behind the pedal and last time it snapped gear box end. I have read threads on here and tried pagid and first line.
    any ideas?
    Cheers Wayne

The very thought of changing the clutch ratchet mechanism with the pedal box in the car 😳.
If thats the solution Waynos83, good luck 👍

I've changed the clutch pedal in position.. granted taking the seat out would help a great deal as u need to contort ur self into position.. not fun by any means

I went through a spell of snapping clutch cables to find that the cable was routed slightly different than it is now.. since my last change its been fine as not as much tension on the cable.. I have a gen cable on there atm but its not the one listed for a Williams.. has lasted just fine *touch wood* so far.. I cant remember the part number uunfortunately

Thanks all for your input. I actually changed the whole pedal and ratchet mechanism 4 years ago when the clutch was changed. I did it myself too, was well chuffed with myself! However, it did take me about 3 hours and had a bad back for days! 😂 Maybe for whatever reason the ratchet mechanism has gone again. I've gone a spare set of the pedal parts here so may have a go at that again. This time I will definitely take the seat out first tho. It's strange that it has all been fine for about 3 and a bit years and now I've gone through 3 cables tho. The pagids have been lasting me about 3 months and the first line was a record 2 weeks!!! I'm getting good at making it home without a clutch!
    Thanks again guys
