Help .....she won't start!

Hello all, I am looking for some advice please.

So she's been parked up garaged for approx 10-12 Weeks, the battery was a bit iffy so disconnected while left in storage, all was fine with the car but since trying to restart to get her running again she's lost her pulse...!,? I tried charging the battery and again with brand new battery but nothing, no light clicks or anything. Seems to have gone into hibernation lol.

Any advice would be appreciated to understand why she won't now start.

So, you replaced the battery...check you have it connected correctly first.

You insert the key, you turn to ignition. No dash lights at all?

Yes Wobba as above... nothing.

The previous battery was week but managed to charge and drive the car.... only after been left awhile i have this problem.

I'd recheck the terminals on the battery and the main earths. Does interior light come on when you open the door etc? You SURE the battery has charge?

Get a battery from a known to be working car, anything will do, and go from there as it sounds like your battery is completely dead & ready for the scrap pile tbh

They don't last forever and can easily get to the point where they no longer accept a charge & just die completely

But he said he tried again with a brand new battery and it didn't work.

If there is electrical power, then is it is not getting to where it needs to be when you want to start the engine. So...terminals first.

Itll be the wires on the ignition barrel - mines just done exactly the same and had to be towed home yesterday. stripped it down today, wiggling the wires with the key in on pos 2 allows it to fire up. Now to search for how to get the barrel out and repair!

New ignition switch fitted (£20 from renparts) and all is good. Same switch is fitted in other renaults and Vauxhall vans
