Returning rust

About two years ago I had the nearside rear arch sorted out. I've got a small and a medium sized bubble coming through on the fresh metal already.

I wont be going back, but how many of you have had similar shit jobs done, and who did them?

Maybe we should make a list of bodge job assholes to avoid...

What a nightmare!
I struggled with finding a bodyshop that I knew I could trust to do the job right, for an amount of money that was reasonable.
I decided in the end to go for mobile welder who specialises in classic car restorations, who will do the welding at my house. That way I will be able to see that rusty metal has been removed and good put in its place and have the opportunity to document the process, to show a potential future buyer that the job has been done correctly. Thats the plan anyway

I feel your pain brother!! I had both rear quarters done on my W3 in 2011. Local guy works from is big garage in his back garden. I went with him as he's had various tasty motors in for repairs and he sounded like he knew what he was doing. The O/S quarter had metal put in but just like yours its come back! To be fair it was very cheap IIRC around £300 for both back quarters and a tickle on the sill and A pillar. Colour match pretty good too. I did go back to him this summer just gone for a bonnet respray as the lacquer was peeling pretty badly. I had the bonnet done for £120 inc rust removal from peppered stone chips. Again when I went he was working on a 1960's RR.

Top and bottom with it is you get what you pay for. I don't mind using him but I don't expect it to be mega. I'm at the stage with the W3 where its all or nothing. In other words its getting ready for a full on refurb sometime in the next couple of years. I had to get the bonnet done, it looked terrible and for £120, its keeping it looking reasonable for the meantime.

When its time for the refurb I will be making sure its going somewhere that's going to do the right things and guarantee their work but sadly its gonna cost!! Mega down side for me is I have a W1 that's requiring the same

It's not really noticeable quite yet but once it is I will be finding a new bodyshop, maybe doing a load of stuff this time not just rear section...

just got mine out the garage after just over 2 years and the rust on the arches has come back :(

moisture is your worst enemy.

some of us go to extremes to avoid this problem ; )
