Thumbs up Snapped Rear Brake Caliper Bleed Nipple

I replaced the main brake lines on the williams 2 due to them being badly corroded, was a bit of a pig to do mainly due to rotten fixings and connections.

When trying to crack of the bleed nipped on the rear passenger side caliper it snapped, I had tried to soak some WD40 on it and when it wasn't budging applied a little heat carefully but it wasn't having any of it.

I bled the brakes as best I could from the rear axel valve but need to get this bleed nipple out and replaced.

Does anyone have any tips or is a reconditioned calliper required? (only just fitted new discs bearings and pads! and haven't driven since so would prefer not to have to replace)

has anyone tried easy-outs out anything like that successfully?

    Thanks for any help!

I work for a Porsche specialist and we have on rare occasions drilled the remainder of the thread out and tapped it. Then putting a time sert in, this has been successful on occasion but not 100% of the time. Depends how straight you can drill .

I did exactly the same with my rear calipers, but easy to put right - Drill out the old bleed nipple through the centre with a drill the same size as the inside diameter of the threads, stopping just before you reach the end (you can usually tell as soon as the drill reaches the cross-drilling in the old nipple) - the remaining thread can then be removed with a small screwdriver or similar, pop in a new bleed nipple and it's as good as new. If you're clumsy and end up damaging the threads in the Aluminium you'll need a helicoil kit of the right size - containing everything you need to insert a thread insert for about £20.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will try the drilling out as nothing to loose, although I was advised against this!

is the replacement bleed nipple a standard size? or where could I obtain one before I attempt this?!

    Thanks
