Williams 3 with ultra low miles

Hi, I am new to the forum. I purchased a Williams 3 approx. 18 mths ago. it is a 1 owner car with only 15,000 miles on the clock. I knew the owner hence can verify the mileage. I would be interested to learn from other members, if a 3 with these low miles is a rare find. It does have a noisy tappet sound which I am told can occur when the vehicle has been unused. it has been garaged all its life but was unused for 3 years prior to my purchase. It has all the original tyres, brakes, shocks, exhaust, glass etc.

Struggling to insert images. I'll put some on photobucket. So far, I have refurbed the wheels as the owner was in his eighties and they were curbed to buggery. Replaced the discs and pads as they were a bit grotty. I have kept the tyres although they are a little cracked and probably wont grip for toffee. The best thing is the interior, it still smells brand new!

    Welcome to the forum.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the pictures of your car. It sounds like a great find. Well done

It certainly is a rare to find one with this mileage these days.

If you're planning on using the car, then I'd really consider replacing the tires. I don't believe that you can get the original Michelin's in the correct size any more, which is a shame, so you would have to get another make instead. Tires can perish from the inside out, so I'd certainly be looking at replacing them if you are planning on driving the car. Do you know the service history of the car? (e.g. when was the cambelt changed?). Again, this is something were the rubber can perish so I'd also be looking at replacing it if it's not been done in the last 3-4 years.

Hope you find some useful advice when browsing the forum.

    Cheers,
    Dave

The last Wiliams 3 with that mileage that came to the forums attention was purchased for 10K.

Of course low mileage does not guarantee that the body work will be perfect as bad storage will cause problems.... heres hoping yours
is as good as it sounds.

Have a read of this.... he he.

Not sure about the cambelt, it only has two stamps in the book, at 3000 and 6000 miles, the last being in 2003. Plan is as follows, get an MOT then off to a local specialist bodyshop to get a couple of dinks out of the bodywork, nothing major (spent all of it's life in Central London). Then to the supplying dealer in West London (if they are still there) for a service and cambelt. Then I finally get to drive it in earnest, tyres permitting! I don't have many photos, a couple from when I first got it, wheels off being refurbished. Wheel arch simply wiped down showing oe shock and the wheels after refurb. Had to lose the polished rim as they were too damaged so will be on the look out for a good original set if anybody has some for sale. Will keep posting as we go along.

I'd be careful with the cambelt as they are supposed to be changed every 5 years. Mine has just gone in to be done as it was lady do r 8 years ago. It was the first thing on my list to sort
