    Bonnet Hinge Wires

    Bonnet Hinge Wires

Who would be interested in one of these.

It replaces the standard wire that is on the hinge. When I rung up Renault to get one they guy said £22 so I promptly thought why don't I make some up.

Anyway I initially done these by just crimping them and the weight of the bonnet pulled them through so this is version 2. I have fusion welded the wire to create a blob so they don’t pull through. Have tested the length on my car and it does hit anything and also support the weight of the bonnet very well. I have ordered some slightly different crimps more suitable for the wire size so the crimp doesn’t look as squashed.

The beauty of this aswell is that you can use an M5 nut and bolt to remove it so you don't have to leave your slam panel attached if you want to remove you bonnet and hinges (so you don't have to realign).

Thinking that I can provide this as a kit ready to fit using m5 bolts, 2 locking nuts and 4 washers. Let me know if you are more interested in the kit idea so you don't have to worry about sourcing bits.

Currently looking for £5 posted for the wire providing I can get away with using a stamp, I need to check.

If I supply the nuts, washers and bolts too it will be a little more.

    Thanks Dan

    There will be 12-13 available

PM me for a quicker response as I don't often come on this forum

For everyone that has PM'd me I have a day off tomorrow hopefully I remember to go to get some nuts and bolts and washers etc. Once I have a price and have confirmed postage costs I shall fix the kit price consisting of the wire, 4 washers, 2 bolts and 2 locking nuts + P&P.

    Thanks Dan

I test fit all bonnet wires before selling them to ensure that they have been crimped and welded properly. I apply a little bit of pressure to the bonnet aswell to ensure they can take a little more weight over the weight of the bonnet. However I would not recommend leaning on them lol.

About 12 available with nuts, bolts, washers ready to go.

Innovations like this are what will keep the Williams on the road, as Renault eventually phase/price out all of the spare parts.

Similar type things like this go on on the VX220 owners site which can be an absolute godsend at times!
