    Classic Insurance Policies

    Ok guys

Ive spent the past couple of days playing about on all the comparison websites getting quotes for when my new arrival gets here

After doing a bit of searching on the internet I've found that there are cases where it's possible to take out classic insurance policies and save yourself some cash

I'm interested to hear if anybody has any experiance of such policies, and if so, what advice can you offer?

    Thanks

The usual routes for insurance (comparison sites etc) are utterly useless for these cars, fortunately there are quite a few people on here that have got classic policies & will be able to help you out finding someone suitable

    Excellent

I've also tried getting day-insurance on the car just incase I have to drive it back home when I buy it

So far I've only found one company that'll do day-insurance, and they quoted me £60.....ermmmm, no thank you

Are you not covered on your current policy to drive another car? (assuming you have a current policy)

Give Peter Best a call, we pay just over £100 fully comp with breakdown. The mileage is limited to a max of 5k, but speak to them, they may be able to do something if you need more.

Yep, my other cars are insured fully comp

My understanding is that allows me to drive other cars that are not owned by me, as long as those vehicles have their own insurance policies

in order to drive the Williams it will also require it's own policy (as I'm driving it, and it's owned by me)

    That's my understanding anyway

i enquired about a classic policy for my willy, and tbh it was a joke. it had to be garaged, under 3k a year, etc etc. then they wanted £278. so got a normal poilcy without all the conditions for £300. may be worth checking for both types of insurance tbh.

Yeah, That does sound a bit off to me

I wouldn't be worried about restrictions like that, as that's the kind of usage my car would get
But, I'd expect some kind of reduction in premium as a result

I'll check both types of policies with a few companies to see what's what

The main advantage I find with a classic policy is to get an agreed value.

    Cheers Ian
