    help needed regarding rev counter

Hi folks, here is a super quick vid of my issue.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrPY...e_gdata_player

On ignition the revs jump to 500 even before its running.it's ticking over at just under 1000 On the timing light. Here's what I've changed/checked so far.
I tried.a different set of clocks, did the same.
I cleaned the pink wire to the coil, if I unclip this it won't start.
    Changed the coil
Cleaned the following earths. All the ones in the engine bay and the 2 in both driver and passenger footwells.
It's driving me nuts, have I missed anything or any body know of different cures.

    Cheers
    Andy
