motorised screen/ are vents?

in the new car am putting in a motorised screen, but as you know the place where the head unit goes is not suitable... so im currently moding the air vents next to the steering wheel as its perfect size, has anyone does this on here as im wondering wot to do with the pipes behind the vent?

On some of the lesser models they have cubby hole in place of where the vents would normally be, so may be worth getting hold of and using that?

phase 1 rl's had those cubby holes, though they are very rare
