Right boys & girls, I'm now in a position to set up a group buy for spacers that fit onto the end of a valver driveshaft. This allows you to get the full widetrack from the Williams without the extortionate cost of the Williams driveshafts - £250+ for each side and most of you should know by now that they're almost impossible to get from motor factors so you're pretty much stuck with what Renault will charge..............until now that is
These are used to transform Valver driveshafts into Williams ones. You slide them up the splines on the CV joint, before you push the CV joint through the hub.
Here's some advantages of the kit
1. Significantly reduces the cost of getting the widetrack setup - don't need to pay "Williams Tax" for driveshafts
2. Valver & poverty spec driveshafts are much more widely available and massively cheaper
They can also come in handy to have if you've already got widetrack in case you have a problem with 1 of your shafts like knackered CV joint or even snapping - it's happened to a few people in the past including myself - all you need to do is get a Valver driveshaft, fit it along with a spacer and you're back on the road.
Same thing if you're on track. If you have a problem, because the vast majority of motor factors have Valver & Poverty spec shafts on the shelf ready to go, you can easily get 1 so you can carry on with your trackday. I've done similar myself at Castle Combe (which is in the middle of nowhere) had a major problem with my car after the 1st session in the morning that required replacement parts. Quick google, phone call & sponge a lift to Chippenham later, I got the parts, fitted them then carried on thrashing the shit out of the car on track all day.
Excuse the slightly old copy of Dialogys but here's the price difference of Valver & Williams shafts
As you can see, there's quite a big difference between the 2. The last time I had to buy a driveshaft it cost me £44+VAT but that was without getting money off in exchange for my old shaft as it was no good, it had snapped. So depending where you go & if you have a friendly parts bloke or not, you're looking at getting between £7 & £15 off that price if you give them a shaft back in exchange.
I'm using these on my car and so are a few other people who got them from the 1st group buy a couple of years ago. What wasn't included last time was the hub nuts. Different hub nuts are required as the OE items are too big, because of the spacer there are less threads available, but don't worry as brand new & correct hub nuts will be supplied.
The kit consists of 2 spacers, 2 hub nuts and will cost £50 delivered to your door. This price is based on a minumum of 10 people ordering a kit. I can easily ship to people outside the UK for no extra cost
