    Camshaft ID markings

    Hi,

If I suspect that the cams may have been changed on an engine, where would I need to look for any identifying marks? They're in the engine, in the car. atm. Previous owner had no clue etc. Car has lots of mods.

I've got a couple of photos but I can't really tell even if they look the same.

I don't have a dial gauge but am planning to get one so this could be a good excuse and just measure the lift to be sure?

Remove distributor & look at the end of the cam there, if there's a number or anything stamped into it then they're deffo aftermarket cams, if no markings they're standard

There are no numbers stamped on but there are some markings that look like they have been scored on..arrowed. not too clear tho.

Well that is a bit of a mystery then, think the only thing to do now is get busy with some fancy measuring device to see what they are
