Bought by me for £4100!
Plan is to completely strip, paint and rebuild to stock condition. Here are my assumptions which hopefully anyone with some experience can shoot holes in and help improve the the plan. Any advice gratefully received. However rest assured I'll be dong my own research before spending any more money!
Budget is £12k aiming for a finished value of £14-18k but she's planned to be a keeper.
Buy F7R engine with correct Jc5 variant for circa £1k
Repair and repaint body for £6k
rebuild an finish for £1k
Also might make a track car out of the 16v that came with the sale but that's a 2nd project
My car journey (for context):
1st car was an Citroen AX GT
I had a maroon Clio 16v for a couple of years when I was 22
Spent next 10 years in the VW scene (Polo G40)
Then MX-5 turbo, Skyline R32 GTR, Fisher Fury with CA18Det, DC2, Lotus Esprit, TVR Chimera 5.0, 986 Boxster S
Cheers, Andy
I've not seen the advert so don't know how bad the car is but based on what I've spent on mine & considering prices for stuff at the time (3/4 years ago) were a lot lower than now I'd say your budget is in the right sort of ball park.
As for finished value, based on what the most recently sold restored car went for at Silverstone Auctions, you're looking more in the high 20's to mid 30's so I wouldn't worry too much if you do go over budget with the resto
Thanks for the warm welcome and encouragement Ian!
Seems a bit quiet here? where can I find out about meets / events etc? would love to get out and meet some owers and really understand what I've taken on!
Also, Any info on the missing engine (C4735) would be really helpful?!
Cheers Andy
