The way I look at it now - take the speedline wheels. No refurb can match that original look / colour they left the factory in. No matter what people say - I've never seen a refub come close to a original. End of conversation!
As daz says, no point having original paint attached to a rusty shell. That's not idea. Restored cars have there own merits and disadvantages (The profile of the rear arch is a good starting point) original non painted numbers matching cars that have escaped the ravished of time more so! And the value is adjusted accordingly!
Take the 13,000 Williams 3 - I would be suprised of that's been painted. It would devalue it for me!
It's just personal preference for me.
