Timing belt locking tool kit

I'm going to be changing the timing belt in a couple of weeks so does anyone know the best place to get a kit for locking the crankshaft in place (and anything else that the kit needs to do - it will be my first time changing one)

No need for a locking tool,me and my mate changed my cambelt on my valver a few weeks back and it is,nt that bad to do just make sure you line all the marks up on the sprockets with the marks on the belt and its straight forward it only took just over 3 hours to do,what takes the time is if you decide to do change the water pump aswell which is a complete mare.

One thing that can happen though is the cams keep nudging out of alignment if they are not locked in place. I've done a few belts without but once or twice had an issue lining up the exhaust cam.

If it is of any use to anyone..you know the bracket that holds the battery in place? It will hold the cams in place whilst you put the belt around the sprockets. Bizarre but true! :D

Does locking the crank not come in handy when slackening the bottom pulley bolt?

I've ordered a cam locking tool from Renault to help me do the job properly ~£30

This should help to hold the cams in place while I change the belt. I'll post some pics up when it arrives. I'm just hoping that I don't need any other bits and pieces because they too would probably be on back order from Renault and take 5-10 days to get here.

15mm spanner or socket is all you need!

To get the bottom pulley bolt undone I usually get someone to hold a large screwdriver in the flywheel against the gearbox casing to prevent the engine turning, then get a very big breaker bar on it to crack it off.

Only time you need anything is when dialing cams in, it helps to pin the crank. Otherwise the marks on teeth are quite enough
