i find the overall performance of the 195/50's far superior to the 185/55, but its not always been a fair test as both times I've gone from firestone 185's to Michelin pe2 195's. once on a Williams and once on the 172. that for grip, turn in, feel, everything

don't find much difference in ride quality, maybe a tad harsher on the 50 profile but hardly noticeable imo with even standard suspension. but again perhaps not a true test as my cars are almost invariably 'tired'

the silly boost mobile doesn't count, so I don't factor this into the tyre test, its harsh and always on R888's = awesomeness!

The Conti 3s on my 197 Cup were £130 per corner (fitted though!!)

h rated are cheaper and to be honest will do the williams, thinks they are rated upto 140mph i think and v's are 140mph and over. am running hankooks evos s1 cost me about £45 a tyre, but then again i work for a tyre shop n got um trade :D have no trouble with them.

As far as I understand all the letters up to H rise in 10kph steps and the V and up increase at 30kph each time.
    Max speed H rated 130mph, V rated 149mph.
(H rated may not let go as long as you dont go over the speed/weight rating) but I very much doubt the Police/Insurers/mot etc will be persuaded.

Not that I am advocating putting the H's on, but I can't see the Police or insurers having an interest - there aren't any roads in the UK where they would allow you to be going 130mph anyway.

    I liked my Toyo R1R's...

The Advan Neova AD08's I have at present are good too but ultimately less grippy, softer sidewall...but are noticeably superior in the wet to the R1R's.

I did notice a slight loss of finesse when going from 185/55 to 195/50's.

Great shout in the tyres chaps. Four brand new Michelin PE2s today in 195/50/15V fitment. Definitely feel the grip, but they look miles better on the car. Friend of mine owns a garage so all four fitted and balanced for £60 a wheel! :D

Im looking a new ones, and looking for a performance road tyre, and the PE2's are coming out top - Iv not tried them but have heard great things, but the Yoko's are near half the price - are the PE2's that much better?

    Bring back my GSD3's :(

I've always been told that cheaper tyres are a false economy. Tbh, the only bit of the car I'd buy the most expensive option I can afford.

What fitment are you looking at as as can't imagine Yoko's are near half price. On Camskill or Blackcircles, PE2s are only £55 per cornerish.

Peeps on here advised me to go from 185/55 to 195/50. Look better, grip harder, theoretically better acceleration. And much cheaper too as much more common size.
