    Thinking about chips yum!

Anyone had experience of a chip that improved fuel economy not after a gain in Power as such but smooth and more efficient

standard map is bout best you'll get for fuel economy etc, most off the shelf chips are aimed at peak power so simply chuck fuel in willy nilly

Given that these cars run lambda control for part throttle fuelling, either a standard or modified map is ultimately going to end up fuelling the same on cruise anyway, so shouldnt effect the economy from a fuelling point of view unless you are at wide open throttle.

Putting in a couple of degrees more timing and accepting you are going to have to run on 99 RON is an option, but dont expect the gains to really be enough to notice, you might manage 1-2mpg extra, but certainly nothing major.

They arent like diesels, where normally we can gain 15% or so on economy as the manufacturers arent allowed to sell them with an economical map on due to things like NOX emissions during type approval.
