That's a tough 1 to call I'd try & rule out the coolant hoses in that area 1st.
If it is a cracked block it'll be a bloody massive crack or impressively fooked head gasket, look at the pic & you'll see how far the waterway is from the bit of the block the water is collecting in so if it is coming from there it's got a long way to travel
ahh that pic helps alot, nice one bud. i'll do some more investigating of the pipe work tomoz. it looks like its filling from the bottom but im hoping now that its just running along the head an filling up. i just always expect the worse since ive been a renault 5 owner lol
I've had this exact problem before.
Sorry to say but it is your head gasket.
The gasket will be split from a water jacket to the that hole and allowing water to escape.
New gasket time!
As above.
Cause is lack of coolant changes causing a build up of corrosion in the back corner which in turn overheats.
ye ive had bit more of a look today after removing all the pipe work an i can see its weeping out between the head :( ahh well at least i'll get to kno my clio as well as i kno the 5 lol. thanks for the replies anyways
Whats your location?
I've just done the head gasket on the F7P in my Renault 19 last weekend. Not a fun job!
haha ye i can agree with that one cliokiz, its taken me a good few late nights lol. im on anglesey n.wales
Found my coolant is filling up that hole also
Would there be any chance the coolant could be leaking from the thermostat housing and running along the head?
Just that.....
i put a new timing belt and it won't be fun to rip the engine out again and get someone to do the HG :(
