    Anything that aids oil to heat up quicker or keep at constant temp is only a good thing I would personally leave it on , just my opinion mate but its not a must by any means. Cheers ANDREW.

    Surely though, once up to temp, the exchanger would keep it hot. Maybe too hot, given some folk run their cooler stat at 80C

    I see your point but for example on my cup I run a similar set up i.e water/oil cooler all be it a more complex version and oil temp is always rock steady even on the hottest of days while competing on any length of circuit, I know shaks isnt taking it on track but if its an upgrade thats already there why remove it? Again just my opinion and these coolers/heat exch. are not life or death to the engine.

    it's indeed for warming the oil up but also cooling it!
    water temp should be around 90. when using the car hard oiltemp will pretty much be more than 90 so the heat exchanger starts to work as a cooler
