Williams Starter Motor Lengths...

According to several motor factors, there appears to be two different lengths of starter motor for a Williams - can anyone confirm why this is so?

And surely if there's two different lengths, then won't the support bracket which the heat shield and motor itself bolts to, only fit one length of starter motor?

And yet Bosch, who supplied the OEM starter motor, only lists one length of motor.

They are probably including the 1.8 16v starter.

I've had two williams's and a Williams 3.the 3 had a longer thinner starter than the 1s.
