182 gear box in a willy2?

i need a new gear box 4 my willy2.....dus ne 1 kno if a 182 gear box wud fit n if ne n wot mods wud need 2 b made 4 it 2 fit ok?



also can any 1 tell me if a 182 gear box would be better than a willy2 gear box?

Pretty certain it won't fit mate.

Get a valver gearbox. Not as strong and slightly different ratios, but people have run them and been happy with them. The ratios in the real world don't make too much difference though

ahhh rite...iv been told it wil fit as there both JC2 or JC5 or sumat lol.....

the ratios will be diferent, and iv also been told if i have ABS it will be ok 2 fit it but if i dont it will fit but the speedo wont work.....

ABS or not doesn't matter and the speedo will work.

16v and Williams box are interchangeable yes.. but I wouldn't put a 16v box on a Willy engine..

Just get a new JC5 from Renault, £500/£600 with VAT.. and be done with it.. it'll work then, hehe.

yes but the 182 gear box is also made 4 a 2ltr like the willy....iv also been told a 182 gear box and a willy gear box are both JC5 its just the gear ratio which is diferent.....

lol i wud get a new 1 but im skint after spendin 650 on a decat, new water pump n cam belt....iv found sum1 selling a 182 box so need 2 find out if i can fit it ok etc

Not a clue about the 182 box.. I doubt some stuff will work - speedo probably won't as it's all electronic on the 182 I guess.

I was talking about Valver/Williams being interchangeable above.. heh.

o rite lol....i dont really want a valver box cuz iv heard it dusnt rev as high in 5th gear.....however i might have no choice if i cant get another box!

ye iv just been told on CS that the 182 gear box uses elec pulse throught the ABS or sumthin 2 read the speed.....dont think willy 2s have ABS do they??? therefor it wudnt work properly! :(
