Best spark plug choice: High performance engine

My engine runs hot due to the heavy retardation to avoid det in the HC engine.

    I think it's eating plugs.

    Any recommendations?

NGK BCPR 6ES, 7ES or 8ES will see you fine. Diffrent grades of heat, wouldnt know which one you need. As far as i know gaz runs standard renault plugs with no issues.

Ok, looking into it further I think a colder plug would benefit the engine more. Emerald did say the same thing and did in fact swap over to some colder running plugs on mapping day. I believe though, Walker said they would be better and last longer, and be fine for now, but may need sorting out with better ones at a later date.

With NGK, it seems the last number denominates the temperature type, lower being hotter, from a range of 1 to 12. I think 8 may be ok...

NGK BCPR 6ES, 7ES or similar in that heat range should do the trick.
You won't need a plug colder than that.

Just checked. Got the BCPR7ES in there currently.

The reason I ask is although overall the engine was in storming form on the way home tonight from work, I did feel hesitation, like a mild misfire, at part throttle.

BUT...I forgot. The 714 camcover I have is duff and leaking into plug well no. 2:

    Pretty full of oil...

Cleared it out and hopefully it will be back to normal after a bit of a run to clear any oil off that ran down inside the bore.
