    Williams BP270 Piper Cams (reground)

I bought these recently secondhand and havent yet used them myself.
But as I have just happened across a set of 285s instead I dont need these now.

Info I got from the seller when I bought them was:

    *************

BP270 regrinds based on WILLIAMS cams not Valver ones
(more lift when you regrind the williams ones)

The lobes are in good condition

There is some radial scoring to the journals but the engine still ran fine and it didnt effect performance at all and that he only removed them to fit different cams as he was turboing the engine.
(so I guess the engine they were in previously had some shit in the oil if its got scores on the journals)

    *************

I must confess I havent even taken them out of the packaging yet myself to look at, I'll get some pictures at the weekend though if anyone is interested, but just thought I would test the water if anyone wanted them first.

Just after my money back really, I paid 100 quid delivered, so am happy to do them for the same if anyone wants them.

They dont come with pulleys, which are advised when fitting (or get a small file into the location groove is the other option if you know what you are doing) to get the correct timing

    PS

    Info here:

Particuarly useful to anyone who has a valver engine they are thinking of cams for as it means they dont have to track down some williams cams to use as an exchange.
    Lift on these is
    10.34mm IN and 9.91mm EX

Lift if piper regrind valver ones is
    9.91mm IN and 9.19mm EX

Cost of a regrind from piper is 209+vat+postage both ways, so around 270 quid, and thats on top of finding some williams cams to send off of course.
So when I bought them I was told the price reflects the minor damage to the journals.

In my noobness, how do reground cams give increased lift if they're just the standard cams with some ground off?

You grind the case circle diameter of the cam down, the lifter takes up the extra slack, meaning you can have a higher lift.

    Exactly this.

But its only possible to increase it a finite amount doing this, as there is only a limited amount that can be removed from the base circle.
Thats why its so important to start with the williams cams in the first place, as the valver ones have less left from the factory so cant be reground with as much lift as a result.

Less "lift" from the factory on the valver ones that should say.
