    throttle position sensor

    are they available from renault or elsewhere brand new ??

    I think you can get it new from Renault, but it's mental price. You must also recalibrate it when fitting, IIRC.

    what pisses me off is that it says on it , its made in England .
    they should be cheap .

    that calibration business is a lot of baloney IME

    I got one from renault a couple of years ago, it was over £100. 'Calibrated' it by ear and a bit of trial and error.

    It's a Colvern sensor. Pretty freely available. Used on a lot of cars

    I don't exactly know the procedure but special Renault tools must be used to do it properly IIRC. I think it's related to the fact that the throttle opening value is not voltage but in numbers from 0 to 255. It's Renault and their specialty to make things complicated.

    XR 25 is the special tool.
