    Squeaky belts

The belt/s on my car are sqealing, does this mean that my car is going to blow up in a massive ball of fire if i brive to Bradford and back at the weekend?

No. It will only be the alternator belt squealing unless you have a seriously over-tight cambelt, which is unlikely.

Be fine, unless it's so loose its not charging alternator. Easy fix and belt is cheap.

Is is ok when all warmed up? Only occur on full lock and on first starts?

More pronounced at start up. Continues when warm/engine running at idle, however its not noticible when moving or accelerating but im not sure if thats because its masked by engine/road noise.

Not experienced any electricity related issues, although it does seem to labour the turn over after a few short runs here and there.

Good run on the motorway will probably do it good then, will charge the battery a bit if it's been struggling to turn the alternator.

Belt is probably old, stretched and started to crack.

Easy enough to change if you've got a couple of hours spare. Make sure you get the right length replacement belt though! If you go somehwere like GSF or ECP, they wont' give you the correct length belt, even if you give them the reg.

I think it's a 6PK6013 or something, Mat will confirm

Thanks for your help folks. Willy managed the journey admirably.

I'm now looking to rest him for a bit during the winter so I'm shopping for an alternate ride.
