New Shape Laguna Brake Issues

Hi guys,

Got a new shape laguna as an every day car, and changing teh rear brake pads, but can't for the life of me work out hw to retract the rear caliper pistons.

Tried winding them in like on the clio, and tried pushing them in, and nothing.

Any ideas?

Hi bud if its an electric handbrake, start the car and release h/brake leave engine running caliper should retract all the way back replace pads and caliper will self adjust when you apply h/brake.

sound cheers mate, that wuld be why piston won't budge as the engine isn't running

Sorry bud , do you know if it is electric or just cable?

sounds like u need diagonistics to wind it bak, most new cars with electronic handbrake require diagnostics to be plugged in to wind piston bak on the rears.
has the calipers got a big black box connected to them?? if so definatly need it to be plugged in.

yep your right but early ones should work as I suggested got the gear to do later ones but dont think he wants to travel from midlands to south wales for a set of pads. hope you get it sorted mate.

i've done them with a normal winding tool, no special procedure was needed, but you must apply pressure while winding, rather than just turning the piston.

Its an 08 plate, with an electronic handbrake.

Ended up ringing up Renault for advice, you have to apply pressure and wind in with a pair of circlip pliers, but its a bastard to get them going
