Valver vs Mk2 Astra GSi 16v

Went drivng a couple of days ago and this Astra kept trying to race me, beat it easily every time and I had 4 people in the car and he was on his own. I thought it must have been a 16v rep at first, but he stopped in the middle of Barnsley so I pulled over and it was a proper 150bhp redtop lol.

Looked quite gutted when I said it was only a Valver he was hoping it was a Williams. There was another Valver following us when we were going slow aswell, didn't race though so I didn't get to see it properly.

    See ya

Must be arsed then m8 as i have known some of these to be as quick as a cosworth on acceleration...these were a very fast car in their day, and cant see a valver keeping pace nor a williams

Nah the GTE is fast the GSI 16v was a bit heavier, its about 7 somat to 60, and mines 7.09 0-60 so I hammered it lol.

ive had 2 gtes and 2 gsis and i was pushing a valver up the road in my gsi, they are quick and not hugely heavy, very torque engine.

Well my dads old GSI 16v was nothing to write home about really, got it timed to about 7.4 0-60 and 0-100 about the same as my Valver. He hated it after owning a GTE before. Glad he sold the GSI lol, ended up with a 280bhp Renault 21 turbo which he had for a couple of years until he crashed into a tractor trying to avoid a broken down car parked on a blind bend.

He's stopped driving fast now though, never had a ticket all his life even though, by everybodies standards he was absolutely mad, used to get from my house to Pontefract in 6 minutes flat in the 21, which at the speed limit is about an 18 minute journey. First time i'd done 160mph in that car lol, it was like being in a computer game cars didn't look like they were moving.

180mpg average speed for 18 miles. Not bad at all.

LOL most of it is bypass lol. Theres about 2 mile of 30mph open lane, 6 miles of 60mph limit bypass, about 2 miles of 40mph then a mile of 30mph open lane again lol. Usually takes about 18 minutes if the traffic is flowing at the speed limit, I can manage it in just less than 8 lol. Can only get to about 130mph on the bypass though, the 21 was doing 150-odd.

Oops, that should have been 180MPH average, not mpg. Even more impressive if there was 30/40mph sections aswell! :o

Yeh he didn't do 30-40mph though lol. It's a stupid limit though, its not in a residential area or anything, just a bit of road leading from the estate to the bypass lol.
