What are the pro's and cons?

I was talking to someone at my local garage who is restoring a near new Nova GTE. Apparently they suffer from rusting on the door sills, so he's had new metal put in and then it lined inside with fibreglass.

Got me thinking....

ive done that with my williams, welded in new sections of rear arch. ZInc primed. Lined the inside with fibre glass and put a coating on the underside behind the arch lip. done it before with an old citroen ax gti i had. Made a big difference in preventing the rust coming back.

Is it common pratice for rust prone panels?

i was told to do this by my local bodyshop, they assured me it would make a good difference
