cig lighter

mine keeps blowing the fuse as soon as you put a new one
in (15amp) just out of curiosity ,i stuck a 30 amp in there and
that blew up as soon as it slots in .

surely its shorting somewhere . could it be the base of the
lighter unit itself ?
any other ideas ,pics ,links ?? :P

pull out the back of the lighter unit and check for bear wires, 9 times out of 10 itll be a bear wire touching the bodywork

done that mate , there are 1 pin and 2 pin plugs both pulled out
of the ligther base with no cuts or wire sticking out .
i will remove the base unit once i find my torx bits .

not sure if its related but also when i raise the drivers side window
my dim lights come on ,as well as those on the dash .
only happens with the drivers door and only happens when the window
is going up ,its fine going down

must be a shockingly bad earth somewhere had it on rear light clusters where you brake and the indicators glow
