Castrol Edge Sport oil takes 30 minutes to warm up!

I regularly do a particular 20-25 mile trip and it's still not up to thrashing temp by the time I get there. Surely not good for the engine on shorter journeys?

Mine is usually up to full thrashing temperature after about 4 miles & I use castrol edge, and before I changed my engine to 1 with an oil cooler it took about another mile or 2 to get to temperature

Maybe you have a sensor problem

It does get warm - just seems to take 50 - 80% longer than the Magnatec I used before.

If you're that bothered about what oil you put in I'd go for some Pro S or Motul 300
I just used the Edge Sport recommended on Castrols website: Edge Sport 0W-40. It's their most advanced (well expensive anyway) oil.

Why do you think Castrol is shite? I thought it was a general accepted brand? Maybe it takes longer to warm up but protects more when cold? Or maybe I'm too gullable, paying £40 for a tank of oil, who knows?

0-40 is pretty damn thin stuff. Lowest I would use is 5, though you may be fine in this cold snap with 0. Normal for Clio Willy is 10w 40 Semi synth.

Get very low pressures on tickover with 0. I used some of that once and it scared me.
