    Quaife non-pas quick racks

Im trying to organise a potential buy of custom made Quaife non-pas quick racks for those who want to run the non-pas set-up whilst not missing out on the lower lock-to-lock ratio that the Valver/williams pas rack has.

I have contacted Quaife and they are able to provide us with the internals we would require.

I'm not sure what sort of ratio people are after, but that can be decided if enough people commit to the buy.

The order needs to be a minimum of 10 racks.

The price is going to be around £125 for the bits (not including postage), although this may change depending on the design we go for.

25% would be required as a deposit and the racks would take 12-16 weeks to make.

Some details from my contact at Quaife as follows:

    His responses are in bold

    - What exactly will you provide? Will it be the whole steering rack set-up (including inner arms, track rod ends etc.) or just the internal parts that will convert the rack I have to quick? It would be just internals the pinion and the rack.
    - What sort of ratios will you be able to provide i.e. lock-to-lock turns? it depends on what can be achieved in the design of the rack housing and what you would want normally 2.5 - 2.9 but we have tried this sort of conversion on a number of racks and the basic design of the housing means a conversion cannot be done, which is why we need to see a sample to evaluate.
    - This may be me misunderstanding your response, but will you actually design the components that will make up the rack?
Yes we will take the sample you supply and draw up a new internal rack and pinion to suit. IT WILL NOT BE A COMPLETE RACK ONLY INTERNALS.
    Hope that helps Len
So to get this going you will need the non-pas column from a lower spec clio and a non-pas rack from a lower spec clio to fit the 'quick' internals into.

To be honest, i'm not expecting to get enough interest for this to go ahead, but I might as well give it a go and see how things pan out...

So add your name to the list if your keen and we'll see how things go.

    Cheers

Theres nothing wrong with doing as you have said, but i'm interested in getting a proper non-pas set-up for my valver rally car build and so thought it would be worth a shot gauging interest......
