URGENT - Williams F7R engine or not ???

Just got this engine and dont know if its a Williams i was told that the F7R has a plaque on the block at the back exhaust side showing F7R and it also has strenthening ribs at the bottom of the block too.

This engine doesnt have any ribs at the bottom plus there is a plaque but it on the front side of the engine (bottom passenger side.
    What is it ???

Has a black spotted dip stick too.

It's only the megane F7R engine that has 'F7R' stamped onto the back IIRC. The williams engine does not.

The plaque is always located on the front of the engine as you have photographed, not on the back.

    If the plaque reads 'F7P', then it's a 1.8 16v engine from either a Clio 16 or a Renault 19 16v.

    If it reads F7R A 700, then it's a Williams 2.0 16v engine.

    If it reads F7R A 714 or 722 (i think), then it's a Megane F7R engine (again, i think, not 100%).

    Cheers.

It states F7R on the plaque but i was told people change the plaques so look for the ribs on the back cast into the block. it seems all smooth and no ribs....?

Never really paid much attention to the ribs on the back so i'm not sure what they look like to be fair.

I think a valver starter motor won't fit on an F7R engine due to the strengthening veins, so i guess that might be a test?

If the plaque looks original though and it states F7R then i think you can be confident it's a willy engine.

    What's the full engine code?

im sure all 2.0ltr williams engines came with the above circled ribs. not sure if the meganes have them but they all have F7R stamped on the back of the block. unless your bottem end has been worked to a 2.0ltr then id say its a 1.8. the tags are easy to change afaik as mine has my old F7P tag on and to look at it you would'nt know its every been changed.
