    Soldering for Chip

I've recently bought one of the gunner style chips for my Williams (with carrier) but need it fitted. I remember there was someone on here who had soldered quite a few, but can't remember their user name.... Can someone point me in the right direction please

I was told that, these days, the best solder jockeys are the guys that do cellphone repair. With the miniature repair work they do, the ECU chip removal should be easy for them.

a guy that fixes sky boxes done my desoldering/soldering recently .
from what i have seen ,the protective glue/resin coat applied on the board
also got under the chip making it really difficult to pull it without
damaging the board . in the end he had to cut the legs of the original chip
and pull the pins out one by one .
he used a hoover to suck the solder out the board as well :D

soldering on the carrier was a piece of piss ,took him less than 2 mins

seems that most end up destroying the original chip but if u get the legs desoldered first then using a hot air gun to warm up the body of the chip it will soften the protective lacquer enough to remove the chip in one piece

    Thanks for the tips.

Good someone also tell me how I go about actually removing the ECU to take this to someone?? A step-by-step guide would be great!
