    Wrong oil filter?

I picked up an oil filter the other day from partsco but iv had a look at it and it seems very short! The base looks right but im sure its not right! Is there a shorter version of them that i may have? Anyone got any pics?

genuine are preferred by most as some after market filters alter the pressure readings

but they are very short filters anyway

Renault changed the williams oil filter particle size to a generic size for all clios, so the renault ones are as bad as the motor factors ones now.

There is no longer a specific williams filter suplied by renault.

I use champion. Its the only filter i had that keeps the oil pressure as high as the old renault mann ones.

I did a massive write up on this in f7power, tested every filter i could find.

The new renault mann ones drop the pressure about 0.5 - 1 bar compared to the old renault mann ones. I phoned mann and they said the particulate filter size has changed.

The main problem i found with most filters was that the oil pressure wouldnt rise as the revs rose. The old renault mann ones would rise upto 4-5 to 5 bar if you really hammered it. The new ones go to about 3 bar and just stay there at a constant oil pressure.

Champion is not as good as the old renault mann ones, but its almost as good.

I have no empiricle data as to how this effects the top of the engine in a real world setting, i can only guess.

I use renault filters on the rallycar and i get 5 bar cold and 2 bar warm on idle, it has never changed since i have had it. Do notice just before a change it drop 0.5bar on these figures all Using 5/40 oil.

I doubt your gauge is working, ive never known a car to idle at 2 bar when fully warm on any oil. Its too high. Book figure is only 1.

Book figure is 3.5 bar at 3k revs at 80 degrees. And thats from a mechanical gauge, not the randonometer mounted in the car.
