    engine safety/reliability

i have left the williams stood for justover 9 months now with the rocker cover on with only two bolts and the plugs and ht leads removed and n oil in the engine, it will hopefuly be running again by the end of next week, will the engine be ok? is there anything i should check before filling it full of oil and running it again?

after you fill it with oil you should turn it by hand a few times(lift up only one wheel, make sure the other one is firmly on the ground, put it in 5th gear and rotate the wheel in the air about ten times. this will make sure you get some oil around your engine no matterwhat condition your oil pump is in). Then or at least disconnect your plgs or fuel pump (you can do both by removing a fuse in the engine bay) and turn your engine with starter for a few seconds until you see the pressure is rising on your oil pressure gauge. Then you should be fine.

or just undo the lead to the coil and turn it over until the oil light goes out on the dash as it wont fire anyway

best to disconnect fuel pump aswell,. otherwise it floods the engine and can make it poor on startup, not great on a car thats been stood for ages and may have idle issues etc.

Plus the fuel will flush any protective oil on the bores away.
