im not sure if its the gauge as the fan keeps cutting in and i thought it responded to the sender???
a couple of people have said a sticky thermostat to me which would make sense as it heats up bloody quickly

mine moves up and down between one third and two thirds quite regually - nothing to worry about I've been told.... some say it should stay rock solid on one third, other say it moves around.... I've had no problems with one that moves around.... there, hope that makes sense...

fan responds to another sender located on the rad itself
so they have no relation what so ever .

you say the temps are going up down up down
if your stat was faulty i dont think that would be the case
