One way of spotting a genuine Williams is to check chassis number to see if it contains the letters C57M
No immediate way of telling I'm afraid - I think there was a post on here where a number of Willy 1 owners put up their chassis numbers to compare against their limited edition number and build date.
Mine is the highest RHD limited edition number I believe (0425) but my chassis number is lower than some other cars....
As other people say, there is not necessarily any logic to the numbering...
If you find a car, and you think it's suspect, post it's details up on here and I'm sure we will be able to tell if it's genuine or not... most UK cars are known on here... good luck in your search!!
I should get a gold star for the number of referals I have made, or maybe a free sticker.....................

Unless the number plates have been changed don't forger that pretty much all willys are reg dependant, L - 1, M - 2, N - 3...Originally Posted by bodben
Also shows up on v5 that its a williams 2 if you have a 2, I'm assuming its the same for the others...
Also if there is a gold plaque on a phase 2 then alarm bells should start ringing, as far as I'm aware all willy 1's were phase 1, williams 2 & 3 were phase 2.
thought all williams were phase 1 just the original williams has the ltd edition plaques
the amount of knowledge on here is shocking!
was that an intentional double edged comment
