As title, i can get one of these for less than it will cost me for a recon unit on the JC5 plus it would have an extra gear!! If it would fit then its gotta be the way forward, higher top end and better on fuel.
Has anyone already done this?

wont fit, it's too wide and the bolt spacing is totally different.
Mk2 Ph1 172 box is your best bet. Mine's lasted 92k, was lucky to get 9.2k out of a Williams one... went through 3 or 4...
Get the standard Jc5 refurbed.
There quite old boxes now, with a fair bit of mileage.
Wasting time buying second hand boxes is just gambling.
The Jc5's are fine if your mechanically sympathetic ;)
Tis a shame the 6 speed boxes dont fit. Would be novelty.
wont fit still, too wide. GDI have a full engine that I wanted in mine but it wont physically fit :(Originally Posted by Oszy
im usre someone told me they knew someone who put the 6 speed in a valver, they done with bbtuning, using an adaptor plate, apparently when the box's are next to each other their very similar in size
yeah heard bb tuning were making a kit...but thats all never heard any more..just get a seven speed ex works hewland bigger better stronger..

if a 225 meggie lump fits in a 5 turbo shell then a 197 should go in the clio, make it so
Yep all you need is a grinder and a mig welder and anything is possible.
Its not running the 225 box tho... as it wouldn't fit ;)Originally Posted by Coops
