<<< Bike powered clio williams - share ideas!!!! &g

    Hi all!

One thing has been on my mind ever since buying the Williams - sequential gearchanges! (probably because my daily car is a Citroen C4 with EGS gearbox). But after reading several topics on here I realised that it would be just pointless spending 5-8k on that, unless you're loaded.

Then it dawned on me - what about motorbikes? I know that they have clutches as well, but the gear changes are very much like the sequential boxes, aren't they? There's plenty of VWs out there with bike conversions, and they are wild! (check out youtube) So what if I was to convert mine to a bike engine and gearbox - would that be closer to what I'm after? Anybody done that or knows anyone who has? What am I looking at $$$-wise?

Would be great to hear your ideas!!

TBH, if you have to ask how to do it, then you dont stand a chance of DIY.
It would take a bit of innitiative and skill to complete.

If you were to pay to do it, it would cost ALOT.

In short, The rear would need space framing, idependent wishbone suspension fabricated, driveline set-up. and then plumb engine, electronices etcvetc etc

IMO I would only consider it if you could get the weight down to say 600kg. Even then, I would look at a turbocharged unit.

You only have to look at the price of Z cars hayabusa minis on pistonheads to see how much it costs, the price of them is unreal!!

Still,It would be a very cool thing to do tho mate

stan, I'm definitely not thinking about doing this by myself. that's a job for professional.

also, i wouldn't want to have the engine on the back. what for? Just stick in in the front instead for the existing one. that should make it much easier, right?!

wouldnt make it much easier no, would save you having to fabricate wishbones/pickups etc.

traction would be an issue if its was FWD I reckon, as instead of 150-175kg over the front wheels, you'd have 40-50kg!
