Leaking Gearbox Oil at Driveshaft Gator

Managed to do something really dumb this week....I left an old rag inside the engine bay when i was messing around with the car at the start of the week and completly forgot it was inside there. I've been driving the car the lastr few days and smelt oil....went to have a look tonite and found mr rag wraped around the driveshaft . I can see that quiet a bit of gearbox oil has been lost as it in in the engine bay and on my drive ....just wondering how far this gator need to be up the drive shaft and where I need to put the jubalee clip as its come off? Here's the pic....cheers in advance.

It needs to be seated ont he silver/shiny area to the right of where it is now.
The strap is still on there, you may need to cut it off and re-strap it.

Thanks Stan! Can you not get away with using the old clip?

you will probably slice the rubber if you try and get that back on, either get a new metal tie or cable tie it up for now

Looks like a reno 'one time use clip'.
Be careful when removing the clip - could cut in to gator.

Cheers for the guide mate...looks quite intensive...may just by a new steel and and a proper tool for putting a new one on for the mo....can't see any damage to the boot itself.

Thought as much...will get a new clip and tool at lunch and tackle it over the weekend. Will try not to cut into the boot then...got some ducting snips...that'll sort it out

Tried to pull the rubber gator back over the bearing but i could'nt get anything behind, so I decided to take the driveshaft out. Good job I did as I can see two splits in the gator . While taking all the bits off I've noticed that the balljoint on the wishbones and track rods seem to be shot too....well the rubbers on them anyway so looks like 1x Gearbox Gator, 2x Wishbones and 2x trackrods needed! . Suppose I may aswell do these while the drive shafts are off. I can see the outter arb bush just slips on...how easy is the inner one...do u just undo the bracket holding it on and pull the runner down the arb?

Northy....where did you get your bearing press from?

    Cheers
    Matt
