Please help!

Hi All,
Apologies for my first post being on the scrounge for information and I promse to do introductions etc later! But:

Was out in my recently aquired williams 2 earlier, just cruising along in 5th gear, went to change down and could not for the life of get the damn thing out of 5th, pulled over and tried all sorts to get it out but had no luck!
Was wondering if there was a common fault/problem with 5th gear or getting stuck in any gear and what the best method for fixing it would be!
Any help much appreciated!

is the gear selector snagging on some thing?
iv heard of gears pooping out but not sticking in ?

I had that once, wasn't in 5th tough, couldn't see anything wrong, wrenched it out with brute force in the end, and been fine ever since, put ti down to one of those things

Thanks for the replies. I haven't been working under the car, I'm going to go and have a proper look at it in the day light in a minute and see if I can see anything obvious.
Tried the brute force but but it asn't haing any of it!
