    export to australia

anybody know anything more about vehicle exports?

    £1000 to ship.
£400 to get oz custom clearance
£90 shipping insurance (3% of vehicle cost)
    and
    17%VAT of the vehicle value
    £510

looks like it would cost me £10k to get a classic car (in a good state) in australia and the wife says that i can take the willy if its cost effective.

would you do it? (moving nov 09 to adelaide)

    cheers

I dunno but if it were mine i'd sell it over here and be shut - what's the car worth to you? Believe me they're in to their cars over there and you won't be pushed for choices of replacements either

Sorry if I'm missing something & being thick, but don't all your exporting figures add upto £2k & not £10k??

It really depends on how much you love the car, TBH. First things I'd ask myself, though, are:-

Was the Williams ever sold in Oz & if not, how easy/expensive is it to get spare parts down there! Also, are there any specialists there?

it would cost at least 10k if i chose not to take the williams.

nearly all of the classic cars are from europe over there. all enthusiasts import parts.

afaik there are no williams in oz. there are many car mechanics who specialise in the "rarer" breeds.

besides, it costs a small fortune to send parts in the uk, the cost for shipping to oz isnt much greater, you just have to wait 38 days.

fear not. mat brown has the power to teleport parts anywhere, at any time.

The mk1 clios were never distributed in Oz, so there won't be anything that the Williams can use. There's a few Clio 172s running around in Sydney, so that's about the closest specialist you will get to mending a Williams. I think there was 1 RHD Williams sighted by a friend in North Sydney couple of years ago but could by been a valver.

    ^^lol!!!
did you know Matt has a back garden in every country around the world??
    Tis a known fact!

I'd take a couple sets of brakes, couple of clutches, engine service parts ( a few of each), drive shafts, engine mounts, cambelts kits, water pumps.

anything else we can ship over to you
