Thought Renault deliberately fitted a big sump to the Williams to stop this happening.

I read the original marketing hype and im sure they said the larger sump was deliberatley designed to stop oil starvation under extreme cornering load.

So this probably wouldnt benefit a Williams (or a valver with a larger sump)

A dry sump can also help power output as well, as there is less resistance from the crank and rods sloshing through the oil bath. Cant remember exactly, but I think some engines can make something like an extra 10bhp with a dry sump. Probably Ben or Nick would know more about the exact details.

Having said that, the Willy engines dont suffer at all from oil surge. Unusually for Renault they must have thought about oil surge before building the engines.

hence why i wondered why my car was revving like a motorbike... i looked at my oil gauge, 1/4 full.... could be an old sas trick for the strip.. in fact.. i may include it.

When i had my CRX and i went on the CRX forums, alot of the CRX boys ran cars up the strip on half oil as the BA16 engines were reputed to kick out upto 10 bhp more on low oil.

the willy sump seems to have very good baffles. apparently different to the valvers and meganes.

dont think ud see much power gain in a clio tho tbh, if any at all.

yeah thats the difference, extra thick baffles compared to a valver lump.
