    cam distruction

right, has anybody had his problem as i have had it happen twice now and its getting bloddy annoying. the problem is that the locating washer on the cam is collapsing and gathering in one corner of the channel then seizing the cam solid then causing the cam pulley bolt to shear inside the cam.this is the second time this has happened first time was the inlet cam and now the exhaust cam.they were regrind cams from piper.does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing it as i dont want to build it back up and replace valves for it to only happen again. any help would be really aprec

    i

unfortantly i have suffered the same fate twice but mine was inlet and exhaust camshafts! mine were also std williams cams which failed.

never really found a real reason for why they went, car always ran correctly, ended up with a new cyl head and 2 cams and been fine since

just to note the cyl head it failed in is now running on a tuned up 2.0 and has been fine

i spoke to piper today there Race Engine Development (Valve Train Specialist)
and he insisted that i had fitted them incorrectly and that is the only way they would of collapsed. they had done 700 mile before they broke so im 100% sure they were installed fine. you cant argue with these people they are allways right and you dont get anywhere :( . anyway the car is running again albeit with a standard valver head but at least its running.

can you install them wrong... i would get back on to them...tell them your not happy and tell them you will be getting loads of coverage on the forums.

as been as they are regrinds and as above even the standard cams fail what can they say..

i think its impossible to install them wrong...

i agree it is difficult to get it wrong, surely once the cam is in place then thats it and im sure if there was a problem with the installation i would of known about it straight away. i will give them another shot but i think i will be beating my head against a wall to be honest.

just a quick update. I have had no response from k tec what so ever regarding these cam's. So i can safely say there customer service isn't the best. So people be aware of this when parting with your hard earned cash as it doesn't take 2 minutes to reply even if it is to say no were not going to do anything about it. I will certainly think twice about using k tec again.
