I'm taking my williams of the road and putting it in a garage for a while - approx 6 months :( was just wondering how often should i let the engine run and for how long, and also any other do's and dont's that are advisable. . . . . .

prob once a month mate (provided the alarm isn't on draining the battery) just let it get up to temperature and try to give it a wash and stuff to save any rot getting hold of it if the storage is a little damp

I'd put it on axle stands so the tyres don't get flatspots.

Could also buy a trickle charger and just leave the battery on charge

When you bring it out after all that time it might be an idea to give it a service!
